Electric car shops in Belgium: the breakthrough?

Electric car manufacturer Tesla has plans to open their first showroom in Belgium, probably Brussels. It’s probably because of the launch of their new ‘model S’. Tesla already sold 4.500 Models S cars!

Isn’t she a beauty?

For the first time in 3 years, Tesla made profit during the first quarter this year. I think this says enough… Tesla is taking over the world! Ahum. Let’s say they are doing good business. It also means that people are getting more interested in buying electric cars. Tesla is the ideal car manufacturer to promote electric driving.

Even stores are installing fast charging stations. Delhaize has now 12 charging stations operational. It means that there is demand and that people are willing to invest in this. Delhaize thinks to satisfy their clientele with this, isn’t this incredible? Go shopping for half an hour, and you can drive again with a full battery package. Thanks to the fast DC charging stations where I talked about in an earlier blogpost.

Companies are investing a lot of money in electric car technology. They are making profit. I think 2013 will be a crossover point in the electric car history. Let’s go for it!

Would you consider buying an electric car? Because even so they seem to be gaining in popularity, I fear that the cost and the limit’s of the batteries still need some improvement before it will be beneficial to drive one of these?

  2. My answer is YES. Actually, I wrote a new blog about the additional cost of an electric car (with respect to a conventional combustion car). https://gtms1319.wordpress.com/2013/04/14/still-a-long-way-to-go/
If Belgium would be more supporting it, like for instance Norway, it could be possible for everyone to drive electric. But indeed, battery technology becomes cheaper and cheaper everyday. I am even convinced that the production cost of an electric car will drop below the production cost of a combustion car, because of its simplicity.
